Without playing, Old Malton tightened their grip on the York Minster Engineering Football League Reserve ‘A’ championship as none of the three sides immediately below them managed even a point.

Second-placed Bishopthorpe lost at Copmanthorpe to goals from Andrew Manns and a Jake Moyes penalty, while third-placed York St John extended their winless run to six games.

Despite hitting two late goals through Jason Chapelhow they lost 3-2 at Haxby, for whom Eddie Phillips, Dave Jeffrey and Steve Fratson scored.

Hamilton Panthers remain in the relegation zone after losing 2-1 at Huntington, whose Chris Johnson (penalty) and Neil Codywold (header) were on target. John Love replied.

Reserve ‘B’ leaders Heworth suffered their first away defeat in four games as they lost 3-0 to Aviva and in doing so lost pole position.

Andre Butchard, Carl Greenway and an own goal made up the Aviva tally.

Thorpe Utd went top after a 3-1 win at Poppleton with goals from Matt Dunne (2) and Graham Stewart. Thorpe ’keeper Rob Gallagher also saved a penalty.

White Horse extended their lead at the top of Reserve ‘C’ after they hit double figures against a weakened Stillington side. The pace-setters’ haul included four goals from Ally Cope and an Andy Jones hat-trick.

Bottom of the table side Bishop Wilton recorded their first win since October as they defeated third in the table Malton & Norton 2-1 with goals from Steve Pickitt and Matthew Driscoll in the first of a double-header.

Malton won the reverse fixture 2-0 with strikes from Ed Marwood and Liam Burdett.
