Hard luck story for Leeds United boss at Southampton

10:30am Monday 15th March 2010

FORMER Leeds United defender Dan Harding undermined his old club’s promotion push as his goal earned Southampton a 1-0 win in Coca-Cola League One.

Harding tapped in the winner on 25 minutes after Rickie Lambert and Jason Puncheon had created the opening.

Promotion-chasing United failed to seriously threaten the Saints goal as the pressure began to mount.

Whites manager Simon Grayson was “disappointed” with his side’s display at St Mary’s and admitted the majority of his players “failed to turn up”.

United, who are next in action at home to Millwall a week today, are now seven points behind leaders Norwich.
