NORTH Yorkshire ‘A’, pictured left, are the top short mat bowls team in the North of England for the first time.
Captain Ralph Parsons, of Easingwold SMBC, and his players claimed the division one title in their final Inter-County (IC) Short Mat Bowls fixture against West Yorkshire ‘A’.
West Yorkshire ‘A’, who won the title last year, had closed to within three points of their hosts after a 32-8 victory over North Yorkshire in Leeds.
However, North Yorkshire claimed the league crown after a thrilling 20-20 draw at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold.
North Yorkshire won the first session 5-3, but trailed 11-5 after the second. The hosts won the third session 7-1 and the decisive final session saw the teams come out level.
