Sir Geoffrey, who has run two good races in defeat since the turn of the year, can make it third time lucky at Wolverhampton tomorrow evening.

The four-year-old runs in the opening Sponsor A Race By Calling 01902 390000 Handicap and will be partnered by Freddie Tylicki.

Last year’s champion apprentice, who is beginning to fire in the winners again in advance of the forthcoming start of the turf season, was in the saddle when Sir Geoffrey chased home Steel City Boy on his latest outing.

There was much to like about that performance, which left the impression that the four-year-old was fast coming to his peak.

He is napped to show his rivals a clean pair of heels in this five-furlong dash.

Jeremy Glover, trainer of Sir Geoffrey, can also score with Turf Time in the Great Offers At wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.

A creditable second to Posy Fossil at Kempton 12 days ago, Turf Time is fancied to go one better in the hands of Chris Catlin.

York trainer Mel Brittain has good prospects of hitting the target with Seldom in the wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.

The four-year-old, who has finished in the frame in all three starts this season, went down by only a neck to Ella Woodcock last time out.

Mark Johnston’s Gargano, beaten less than a length by Spruce at Lingfield last time, has every chance of resuming winning ways in the Hotel & Conferencing At Wolverhampton Handicap. Joe Fanning has the mount on this dual all-weather winner.

Over the sticks at Carlisle today, Edge Of Town will be hard to beat in the opening Sporting Champions Raceday 21st March Novices’ Hurdle.

Trained by Donald McCain, who has a strong team of horses heading to Cheltenham, Edge Of Town ran out a ten-lengths winner at Ayr last time and looks a horse on the upgrade.

Rose Dobbin and her husband, former top northern jump jockey Tony, have made a fairly quiet start to their training operation, but Middleton Dene could give them a welcome winner in the Jools Holland/Alyson Moyet 3rd July Beginners’ Chase.

The eight-year-old finished second to the well regarded Riguez Dancer at Sedgefield last time out. He may not need to improve much on that effort to go one better.

Howard Johnson has double prospects with Top Dressing (3.45) and Vecchio Senso (4.20).

Top Dressing is entitled to improve on his comeback outing at Musselburgh last month, when he finished second on his first start since November, while Vecchio Senso overcame a lengthy absence to win at Wetherby last month.
