TWO second-half goals condemned York City to their fourth straight defeat as they fell 2-1 to Salisbury City at Bootham Crescent.

Putting a further dent in their Blue Square Premier play-off hopes, Reece Connolly and Darrell Clarke cancelled out Djoumin Sangare’s first-half goal, put in with his hand, to extend the Minstermen’s winless run to six matches.

The result keeps City in sixth place but, with Kettering also defeated, manager Martin Foyle’s men still have a game in hand on their nearest play-off rivals.

Said Foyle: “We had enough chances and put balls into the box. I thought they worked hard and I am not going to criticise them.

“Out of the blue, it was a magnificent finish (from Connolly) and you have to take your hat off to that.

“It’s a really frustrating time and we are not playing as much football as I would like.”
