Haxby United’s bandwagon has hit the buffers in the Minster Engineering York Football League premier division.

After suffering their first defeat of the season last week, the Haxby crew were again sent into reverse as they were beaten 3-2 at Selby outfit Tate & Lyle.

Haxby had won the previous five encounters with T & L, so when Steve Ward put Haxby in front after just ten minutes the sequence looked likely to continue.

But Tate & Lyle levelled soon after through Chris Harkin. Though Gary Mitchinson restored the visitors’ lead from the penalty spot, Harkin levelled again before John Ginty hit the Selby side’s winner eight minutes from time.

Premier leaders Dunnington extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches after drawing 1-1 with Hamilton Panthers.

Paul King volleyed Panthers in front with Grant Tolworthy levelling.

Old Malton notched a second successive 4-0 away win, this time Wilberfoss being the victims.

Goals were shared between Mark Swale, Jamie Shepherd, Dave Bell and Neil Wilford. Without the hard work and dedication of groundsman Dick Kendall the Huntington home fixture with Riccall would have been another casualty of the weather, but the club were rewarded as they beat Riccall 3-2.

Danny Franks set up goals for Pete Laidlaw and Lee McQuade before firing in his side’s third. Gary Collier hit both Riccall replies.

Copmanthorpe ended a run of four home games without a win after defeating Tadcaster 4-2 with goals from Matty Bastock, Danny Leach, a Tad defender, and the goal of the game from Terry Hibbert. Ben Janes hit a hat-trick as Poppleton swamped Wigginton 5-1.

A Danny Temple goal and a three–times taken penalty eventually converted by Danny Barrett, completed the nap-hand. Tom Coates snatched a late consolation.

James Barrett scored the only goal of the game as Kartiers beat York St John’s 1-0.

Division one leaders Malton & Norton recorded back-to-back draws against Thorpe United.

Mathew Deuce’s opener for Thorpe was cancelled out by Simon Collins and though Shane Singleton restored the lead, the Ryedale side produced another late equaliser through Curtis Drummond.

Second-placed York RI shared the spoils with third-in-the-table Post Office 1-1 with both goals coming three minutes either side of the interval.

James Macquarrie gave Post Office the lead just before the break with Darren Sellars levelling early in the second half.

Struggling Stamford Bridge buckled in the second half at Tockwith conceding five goals to lose 5-1. Shaun Mallen, Jamie Perkins (2), Neil Richmond and Graham Hutchison shared the home tally with James Wilmoth replying.
