Wendy wizardry proves in vain as Acomb ladies hockey team lose to Leeds

8:48am Tuesday 9th February 2010

DESITE sterling defensive work, Acomb ladies lost 3-1 to visiting Leeds 2nds.

The first half was played at speed with both teams sharing the possession and having chances.

For Acomb, Wendy Watson made some great runs down the right wing weaving through the Leeds players and providing some strong passes.

Meanwhile, stern defence kept the Leeds attack in check as the first half ended blank.

Leeds scored an early goal in the second half but Acomb rallied for an equaliser through Hannah Yoward.

Acomb yielded two goals to increasing pressure.

Player-of-the-match was Jenna Allison for the second week running.
