A PERFECT month for York City has been capped in fine style – with manager Martin Foyle and striker Richard Brodie taking top league gongs.

Foyle has been named Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month for November while 19-goal forward Brodie has taken the equivalent Player of the Month award.

City racked up six straight wins during the month and won through to the FA Cup third round after wins over Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge United.

It’s a series of results which pushed the Minstermen into third place in the table ahead of last night’s trip to Rushden & Diamonds.

Foyle, who celebrated a year in charge of City last week, presided over a team which also kept three clean sheets.

Brodie hit six goals in five games during the period, including a hat-trick in City’s 3-2 win over Chester.

The former Newcastle Benfield striker also scored twice in York’s win over a Crewe and netted a crucial penalty in Saturday’s FA Cup success at the Abbey Stadium.

The front-man was also named the player of the first round of the FA Cup in which he scored twice to oust Coca-Cola League Two side Crewe in a dramatic turnaround.
