TWO Ryedale clubs were involved in the surprise results from the York Minster Engineering Football League Reserve League Cup third round.
A Simon Reeves hat-trick helped Reserve ‘C’ side Malton & Norton to an impressive 3-2 win at Reserve ‘B’ York RI, while Old Malton suffered an unexpected defeat at Reserve ‘B’ outfit Easingwold Town, where Andrew Metcalfe senior scored twice for the hosts in a 3-2 win over the Reserve ‘A’ visitors.
Cup holders Wilberfoss lost 5-1 at Bishopthorpe, George Matthew hitting a hat-trick for the Bishops, who have reached the last four three times in the last four seasons.
Dunnington’s Andy Rose hit a hat-trick in the 5-3 home win over Poppleton United, whose Charlie Jackson scored twice.
York St John’s posted a 5-1 win over Kartiers, which included a brace each from James Sharpe and Josh Hind.
Paul Shah scored the only goal as Riccall beat Fulford.
