The Minstermen chief is hoping to conclude a couple of deals in the coming days with a left-sided centre-back still his main priority.

City have signed seven players since the end of last season with Andy Ferrell, Craig Nelthorpe, Richard Pacquette, James Meredith, Levi Mackin, Michael Rankine and Alex Lawless the new recruits.

Strikers Craig Farrell and Onome Sodje, meanwhile, have followed the likes of Mark Robinson, Daniel McBreen, Steven Hogg, Simon Rusk, Christian Smith, Liam Shepherd, Josh Radcliffe, Mark Greaves and Shaun Pejic out of the Bootham Crescent exit door.

While declining to identify names, Foyle, pictured, also suggested there could be more departures before the start of the season with out-of-favour contracted pair Ben Wilkinson and Simon Russell seeming the likeliest candidates for a move.

The City boss said: “I’m not going to say nobody else will be leaving. There are one or two things floating around, but we would have to make sure we are covered first.

“Otherwise, unless I can wheel and deal a bit more, I’m hoping everything will be sorted out by Friday. We have one player ready to sign, but he’s on holiday.”

City’s pre-season friendly against Leeds United on Sunday, July 12 (1pm) will be pay on the day only for home fans. Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
