4.25: Dave Flett, York City reporter, says: "The better side won on the day. Steve Morison caused City problems throughout and the Minstermen struggled to impose themselves in midfield and only created a couple of clear-cut chances. "Most efforts on goal were hopeful rather than threatening. City's defence, their strongest department all season, came under heavy pressure but will be disappointed with the two goals they conceded."

4.00: Parslow leads the bereft City players up to the royal box where the captain gets a hug from Sophie Hicks. They all look crushed. Stevenage follow behind to lift the FA Trophy.

3.58: City look like they can't wait to get off the pitch.

3.51: GOAL: And game over. A goal which rather sums up City's season I'm afraid. Captain Daniel Parslow is caught napping and Morison's throw-in finds Boylan, who hits it on the half volley past Ingham.

It's all over. The referee blows for full-time and City sink to their knees in despair. But they've been beaten by the better side. The York fans give them a rapturous round of applause but it looks like it is little consolation at the moment. Stevenage, as you would expect, are lapping it up.

3.50: Ben Purkiss puts a free-kick just wide as Steve Morison is named man of the match on what could be his last game for Stevenage.

3.47: Mark Stead: "People are talking about the occasion rather than the prospect of an equaliser and some are heading for the exits". Brodie fires a despairing shot at goal but it is never troubling Day. We're into four minutes of stoppage time.

3.45: McWilliams is shown a yellow card after sending Henry airborne.

3.42: Gavin Aitchison, with the City faithful, says: "For the first time, an air of despondency seems to be settling on the east end of the ground. Some attempts to get the singing going but there's a lot of silent people here."

3.40 Levi Mackin picks up a booking for scything down Darren Murphy. Time is running out for the Minstermen.

3.37: Daniel Parslow has very nearly headed into his own net from Drury's cross. That was close. Martin Foyle throws his last roll of the dice and Simon Russell comes on to replace Simon Rusk.

3.35: Mark Stead with the City fans: "There's a lot of very glum faces round here at the moment. 'Can't see where a goal is coming from' has been heard more than once."

3.32: Andy McWilliams is on for Mark Greaves.

3.29: City need to regroup and quickly. They are all over the place at the moment and are lucky that Vincenti doesn't make them pay when heading past the post with the goal at his mercy.

3.26: GOAL: Stevenage take the lead and it has been coming. It's Steve Morison who has got it. The corner comes in and City's defence let the prolific striker have two stabs at it - missing the first one entirely before poking it into the net.

3.25: They've just announced the attendance for today's game: 27,102.

3.21: Brilliant save from Ingham. City are wasteful in the middle and Morison's head across comes to Vincenti, who hits a stinging shot at goal which is superby tipped round the post by the York stopper.

3.17: Adam Boyes carves an opening but skews it wide and it is the last we have seen of Daniel McBreen in a York City shirt. He has been replaced by Onome Sodje.

3.12: Mark Stead says: "Reaction of one fan to a safety message asking supporters to remain seated for the duration of the match - 'what even when you flipping score?' A fan behind me bellows 'come on city!' and then adds touchingly 'please?'

3.07: City have a penalty appeal waved away. Brodie's shot seems to hit Michael Bostwick's arm but was it deliberate? Referee Michael Jones thought not.

3.03: Lawrie Wilson is booked for a nasty challenge on Simon Rusk. Then Lee Boylan somehow puts it wide when it seemed easier to hit the target. It's all action again early in the second period.

3.02: The second half is getting under way.

2.58: Gavin Aitchison, in the concourse, says: "That's unreal. FOUR POUNDS FIFTY for a pie! This place cost £800m. At these prices they'll recoup it in no time!"

2.53: Dave Flett, York City reporter, says: "City are second best in most departments but the positive is they are still on level terms and have also had chances to score at the other end".

2.45: Mark Stead with the City fans: "Hands on heads as City's best opening by far goes begging. Won't get a better on than that."

Mark Greaves then sees a shot blocked near the line and fires his second attempt over the bar.

The referee blows for half-time and we are level at the break.

2.40: York finally explode into life. Pass forward and Adam Boyes beats Ronny Henry but hits it hard at Chris Day in the Stevenage goal and he is up to the task. At the other end, Vincenti climbs above Ben Purkiss but puts his header over the bar.

Gavin Aitchison in the stands says: "The place would have erupted had that gone in. Come on City!"

2.36: Stevenage should be one up. Cross from the right and Lee Boylan heads wide with no City player anywhere near him. Then Drury curls one just over the bar with York again penned into their own box. The Minstermen are really hanging on here at the moment.

But Gavin Aitchison says: "That never looked in. Always going wide."

2.32: Morison tests Ingham after weaving past two City defenders on the right hand side. Once Borough get the ball back from the Minstermen, there's seems a lot of space in the midfield for them to roam.

2.29: Mark Stead in the stands: "Just as somebody says Stevenage are nothing to be scared of, they nearly score. There is some confusion in nearby seats as to whether City's keeper is called Ingham or Ingram. It's gone a bit quiet in here."

2.24: Andy Drury is the latest Stevenage player to have a crack at goal - putting it just over the bar. This is getting a bit serious for City now. They just can't seem to keep the ball.

2.22: Stevenage are now in the ascendancy and Steve Morison could have done better when bursting into the box and riding Daniel Parslow's tackle. But fortunately for the Minstemen, he couldn't finish.

2.16: Peter Vincenti balloons it high over the bar for Stevenage after some battling from Steve Morison.

Reporter Mark Stead with the City fans: "Heard a few rows back - 'they've started well haven't they? And the new shirt looks nice!'

2.13: Brodie is causing Stevenage a few problems early on and, after a little pass, Shaun Pejic gets forward from defence to smack a fierce shot wide of the left-hand post.

2.07: City have gone away with one there. Appealing for offside, they allowed Darren Murphy to turn in the box but, fortunately for the Minstermen, he fired a well-hit shot straight at Michael Ingham.

2.04: Gavin Aitchison, our man in the stands, says: "It's buzzing in the north east corner. Everyone's up for it. Come on you purples!"

2.01: City almost got off to the perfect start. Richard Brodie beat Roberts in the air and scuffed a pass into the box. Amazingly it fell right to Daniel McBreen but he scuffed it as well and Stevenage escaped

2.00: We're off and running.

1.53: The players are out on the pitch. A deafening roar greeted them. There's a smoke bomb gone off in City's end. They are ready and so are we. Come on City!

1.48: If City fans needed any reminding of how dangerous Stevenage striker Steve Morison can be then they just need to look at this one stat: 15 goals from his last 15 Trophy games.

1.40: The City At Wembley song has just been belting out in the stadium. Not sure how the players warming up below me felt when they heard 'We'll we're York City and we're not very good..."

1.34: York City reporter Dave Flett says: "City have got every chance today. A lot depends on how the defence cope with Steve Morison but, psychologically, it is going to be very difficult for Stevenage to recover from the disappointment of missing out on the play-off final in just six days."

1.23: You know it's a big game when the journalists are taking pictures of themselves in the press box. I'm getting quite excited myself.

City's players are on the pitch and they are getting huge applause everytime they get anywhere near the rapidly growing throngs of Minstermen followers to my left. The atmosphere is building quite nicely. I'm not sure about Take That over the PA though. Where's "City at Wembley?"

1.15: Right. I have got the teams and it is exactly as we thought. Mark Greaves and Simon Rusk do fill the two vacant places in Foyle's line-up. The teams are as follows: City: Ingham, Pejic, Parslow, McGurk, Purkiss, Mackin, Greaves, Rusk, Boyes, McBreen, Brodie. Subs: Mimms, Sodje, McWilliams, Robinson, Russell. Stevenage: Day, Wilson, Roberts, Henry, Murphy, Mills, Bostwick, Drury, Vincenti, Boylan, Morison. Subs: Bayes, Anaclet, Albrighton, Maamria, Willock.

12.56: York have apparently got the "unlucky dressing room" - something which caused City chairman Jason McGill a fair amount of consternation at the recent media day for today's final. Only three teams from 38 in finals have won coming out of the Minstermen's changing facilities since Wembley started hosting these big events again although, on the plus side, Portsmouth were one of those and they won last year's FA Cup

12.40: There's a hefty rumour going round the press box that it will be Simon Rusk and Mark Greaves who will fill the missing two places in Martin Foyle's starting line-up. That would mean no place in the team for Mark Robinson, who has played every minute in City's Trophy campaign until today.

12.25: I'm in awe. The stadium is huge and utterly fantastic. The York City players are out on the pitch - on mobiles - looking up into the stands. Richard Brodie is looking particularly sharp. For all the talk, the pitch looks brilliant. Wembley Way was fantastic with all the City fans milling around with their shirts and flags. A few hardy souls are already in the ground but the majority are outside taking in the atmosphere. I honestly don't think I've ever been in a better stadium than this. And York City are about to play in it!

10.00: We're on our way to Wembley. The train's pulling in at King's Cross - next stop: Wembley Way and the arch. See you there.

9.50: City fans are now arriving at King's Cross and among them are father and son Gary and Adam Wilson. Adam, nine, says: "I think York will win and my favourite player Onome Sodje will score".

I have to say Adam, I have a sneaking suspicion City might do it as well. So much so, I've even put my money where my mouth is. I have backed York to win 2-1 and Richard Brodie to score the first goal - at 50-1. It'll be a good evening in the Carroll household tonight if that score comes in. We're arriving in Stevenage now. I'm trying to muffle a boo. And there are a load of Boro fans around so I am going to keep quiet.

9.22: There are plenty of City fans on this train and our man Mark Stead has been among them. He says the mood is "really relaxed and people are determined to enjoy the day - regardless of the result. The club's escape from relegation seems to have put everyone in a chilled out frame of mind about Wembley".

9.07: Spotted at York Station. York Racecourse chief executive William Derby - suited and booted and clutching a York City flag.

8.54: Our resident John Kettley, Press reporter Gavin Aitchison, is already in London and he reports the weather as "dry, but overcast".

8.35: Good morning from Wembley. Well, good morning from the 8.03 National Express York to London King's Cross anyway.

The day has finally arrived. It's FA Trophy Final day and City are at Wembley.

Stay with me throughout the day and I will keep you right up to date with all the news and views on this historic occasion - through the build up, the match and the aftermath.

Our team of reporters are around Wembley Stadium - outside and in the ground - and they will be sharing their impressions and those of City fans throughout the day.

But, most of all, I want to hear from you. Have your say, leave your good luck messages for Martin Foyle's men and let's hope we are all cheering the Minstermen's victory come full time.
