After three heavy defeats by higher ranking opponents, Nestlé Rowntree RUFC showed great spirit to earn a 27-26 victory over Richmondshire at Mille Crux.
Winger John Atkin scored a penalty, a try and a conversion in the first few minutes but the visitors took the lead with two tries from their strong running flanker.
Ryan Bushell replied with a drop goal before prop Graham North scored from a driving maul to give Trees a 20-12 half time lead.
Richmondshire pressure brought them another converted try but Nestlé hit back with the try of the match from big number eight Brendan Gamble, who raced away from a scrum on halfway to crash over with three tacklers on his back.
Crucially, Atkin added a difficult third conversion which kept them ahead.
