Cliffe Football Club lost 3-0 at Total Sign Solutions for their first East Riding County division three defeat of the season.

The score was blank at half-time with Cliffe’s Scott Birch the closest to breaking the deadlock with a neat header.

Cliffe, however, were even more lethargic after the break and even a switch in formation when trailing 2-0 failed to stop the visitors sliding to their biggest ever competitive defeat.

The Cliffe man of the match was Andy Moughan.

Cliffe Reserves ended their season in style with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Gilberdyke Reserves in division five.

After Gilberdyke squandered a penalty, Neil Lambert fired Cliffe ahead with a low shot.

Substitute Nathan Horner doubled that lead shortly into the second half only for their opponents to cut the deficit.

But Lambert followed up to score again after an Aaron Tiplady shot was nudged on to the bar and though Gilberdyke countered with a penalty, Tiplady immediately put the game beyond the visitors’ reach when he showed good strength to turn and shoot from the edge of the box.
