BOTTOM beat top in the premier division of the Leeper Hare York and District Football League.

Bottom of the table Tockwith sprang a festive surprise on top flight leaders Haxby United with a deserved 4-3 away win on Saturday.

Matthew Wash gave the hosts an early lead, but that was cancelled out by a Dominic Wilson header shortly afterwards.

Jamie Perkins, scoring for a third successive game, put Tockwith in front, but parity was restored through Ashley Hill just before the interval.

After the resumption, Haxby rattled the woodwork before two goals from Andy Walker put the basement side in command.

Although Ed Higginbottom reduced the arrears five minutes from time, Tockwith held on to claim their first away in six attempts.

Kartiers claimed back-to-back wins over Poppleton as they triumphed 4-3.

In a re-run of the previous week’s game, the Selby side had to come from behind to take all three points.

Two goals from Ben Janes in the first 20 minutes put Poppleton in control.

However, Kartiers rallied to hit three goals in the space of 12 minutes with Andy Woodhall bagging a brace and Louis Blackwell also scoring as they went into the break holding a 3-2 advantage.

Woodhall completed his hat-trick to put Kartiers further in front before a Selby defender put through his own goal to set up an anxious finale.

Kartiers’ victory saw them jump up to fourth place in the table.

Dunnington and Wilberfoss played out a 1-1 draw for the second time this season.

Scott Nicholls gave Dunnington a half-time lead, but Danny Johns equalised within a minute of the restart to ensure the spoils were shared.

The share-all extended Dunnington’s unbeaten run to nine games, while Wilberfoss are waiting for their first win in six matches.
