York City reserves draw at Barnsley

York City reserves shared in an eight-goal thriller at Barnsley, where they were only denied by an 88th-minute leveller from Luke Potter, who had a trial at KitKat Crescent last week.

City led 3-1 and 4-3 before being denied by Potter’s last-gasp strike after Adam Boyes (2), Niall Henderson and Simon Russell scored for the City second-string.

The Press are well within their right to remove unsubstantiated claims from their website. I don't know why anyoe thinks it's fascist/Stalinist to do so.

If said rumours are true, I think it's a mistake and well end in failure with a former hero pilloried.

As for why Brodie story isn't up, I seriously doubt the press have a full-time member of staff writing up York news. We get what goes in the paper each morning, then that's it for 24 hours.

Regarding Brodie, the official City website says that he is being brought back to York because he's finding it difficult travelling over to Barrow from his north-east home.

This is a great bit of fun isn't it? Bottom line is something needs to be done quickly. We are not "too good to go down". Walker is happy for weeks, concerned for weeks, pleased for weeks, blaming the players for days. What is not done for even minutes is any sort of strategy, policy or thought. I think there is a lot of "wind you up" chat on here. Bottom line is we are up the proverbial creek without a 'kin paddle!

Funny how Brodie claims not wanting to come back yet. Wants to play against Brentford in FA cup live on tv Who can blame him. Claims it will be the biggest game of his career with possibly a 3rd round game against one of the big teams

While I'm certain seeing the back of Colin is a wise idea, I'm not sure Dennis Smith is the ideal replacement.

Firstly it's never wise to go back over old ground, and there's also the fact that he hardly set the world alight at Wrexham. Seems like it could be a move to please the fans, but why no fresh start with a fresh face?

Imp, the Press has the right and even duty to take down libelous posts, it reserves the right to take down irresponsible and abusive posts and can do pretty much what it wants to contributions to its own site. What is unhealthy is the unexplained suppression of debate and opinion on what it claims to be a free and open board. That's more than news management. If the press wants to take down a comment it should replace it with a statement saying why they've taken such action.

YEP used to print County, City, Extra, Final, Late City, LateExtra and Late Final editions across the day, enabling them to move with the news. In these days of the internet and instant publishing they should be doing better, not worse. They need some healthy competition.

I've started a York City Football Club Open Discussion Group on facebook if anyone is interested in posting to it.

a new manager often kickstarts the season.i think smithy will do well,if its true.we have some very average players at york who work hard, but they have not had anyone with the right leadership skills to take them up a notch.the same thing at spurs until redknap took over.bring in a proven goalscorer and a playmaker in midfield, and im sure we can still make the playoffs.the top ten in this league are of equal standard,so its wide open.

I agree, look what Dean Saunders has achieved at Wrexham and I don't think he'll turn out to be a long term success there...

We need someone to galvanise the team and the fans and start playing attacking football, Dennis would do that in my opinion...
