DRIVING ambition will be at the forefront of Dringhouses Football Club’s centenary dinner.

Mercedes Benz of York have kindly donated a top of the range sports car for a weekend, as an auction item for the event to be held at York Racecourse’s Ebor Suite on Saturday, November 15, starting at 7.30pm.

Long-serving player, manager and committee member Frank Prole managed to obtain the bumper prize as a final gesture on retiring from Mercedes Benz finance Ltd after 20 years with the company.

And the oppotunity to get behind the wheel of the sports car will be among the highlights of the dinner for the club, who run two teams in the Leeper Hare York and District Football League.

Steve Kindon, former striker with Huddersfield Town, Burnley and Wolves, will be the main guest speaker at the dinner which also features former Leeds United player John Stiles, son of England World Cup winner Nobby Stiles.

York’s own Dave Kendall is the Master of Ceremonies.

Anyone wanting tickets for the prestigious dinner is asked to contact Andy Barkway on 07742 031159 or Colin Mole on York 793735.
