Trialist Beadle’s York opening
FORMER Scarborough defender Jimmy Beadle has signed permanent terms with York City.
Beadle, 19, has become Colin Walker's second signing as City boss following the arrival of midfielder Simon Rusk from Northwich Victoria earlier this week.
Having left Scarborough following the club's closure last year, Beadle has been playing for Norwegian side Steinkjer FK in recent times.
Walker will not consider him for tomorrow's FA Trophy home clash with Grays, but said: "He's somebody who came to us for training three months ago and he looked mean and keen after his season had just finished in Norway but we couldn't get international clearance to play him in a game. He went away to do some work in Scarborough and, during that time, I think Altrincham, Northwich and TNS in Wales have all had a look at him.
"I think he's a forward- thinking signing rather than one for the here and now. He's somebody that we have seen something in that we would like to work with for the next three or four months.
"He can sit in midfield, play right-back or centre-half and we're giving him a chance, but he won't feature tomorrow as we have enough players at the football club already that deserve a chance first."
City defender Carl Jones, meanwhile, has extended his loan stay at Gateshead.
