YORK City have appointed Colin Walker as the club's new full-time manager after today's 2-1 home victory over Droylsden.

The Minstermen's board of directors made the decision following the fifth win of Walker's six-game unbeaten reign as caretaker chief.

He has now been named as the permanent successor to Billy McEwan, who was sacked after a 3-1 KitKat Crescent defeat to Salisbury last month.

A club statement said: "The board have been impressed with the attitude, aptitude and professionalism shown by Colin during recent weeks and the positive response to his approach shown by the players."
