LUCY STANIFORTH had a dream debut to remember for England.

The York-born 25-year-old, winning her first full international cap, scored the fourth goal as Phil Neville’s team won 6-0 in Kazakhstan to conclude their World Cup qualifying campaign unbeaten.

Former York College starlet Rachel Daly, who now plays in America with Houston Dash, also scored, getting the second goal just after the half-hour mark when she provided a neat finish to a cross by Hannah Blundell.

Attacking midfielder Staniforth, who began her football with Copmanthorpe Juniors and now plays for Birmingham City in the Women’s Super League, was one of seven full debutants as Neville selected a much-changed line-up, with England having already qualified for France 2019.

Blundell also provided the assist for her goal, which came in the 66th minute.

Also on target were Arsenal’s Beth Mead (2), another debutant, and Olympique Lyon's former Manchester City duo Izzy Christiansen and Lucy Bronze. Mead also missed a penalty as England created a raft of chances against the group’s bottom team.

England, World Cup semi-finalists in 2015, now contest friendlies against Brazil and Australia in October as part of their preparations for next summer's tournament.
