YORKSHIRE Diamonds ace Beth Langston hailed a more rounded performance following her team's victory over Surrey Stars at York's Clifton Park ground - and called for more of the same today.

As reported by The Press, the Diamonds maintained slim hopes of qualifying for Kia Super League Finals Day at Hove later this month thanks to a nine-wicket win, which lifted them off the foot of the table.

But they must win their last two fixtures against Lancashire in Blackpool today and Loughborough at Headingley on Saturday to have any chance of a top-three finish.

“It was a good win for us, particularly at home," said Langston, Yorkshire having successfully chased down a paltry target of 67 after Surrey failed to recover from losing four wickets in 15 balls just outside their power play.

“We’ve been a bit disappointed with the performances so far. We’ve been there and thereabouts, but we just haven't been able to put in the complete performance.

“We’re really happy to put it all together.

“It was quite a tricky wicket to bat on if you put it in the right areas, which we did.

“But the way we batted - really positively - showed it was still decent if you got in."

England fringe seamer Langston starred with 3-14 from 3.4 overs and Australian all-rounder Delissa Kimmince likewise took 3-14 from three with her seamers.

Leg-spinner Katie Levick also struck twice in two overs, while miserly Katherine Brunt claimed a wicket and a direct hit run-out as Surrey were dismissed for the second lowest total in KSL history, just two runs more than Yorkshire's 64 in defeat to Southern Vipers in 2016.

Aussie opener Beth Mooney then led the chase with 44 not out off 30 balls, as the five-point win was completed with 10.3 overs remaining.

Said Langston: “Helen Fenby set the tone in the first over, only going for a couple of runs. Then Katherine got an early wicket. T20’s all about momentum, and we never took our foot off the gas.

“I was really happy with how it went personally. I’ve been a bit disappointed with how it’s gone, but thankfully I’ve turned it around with some wickets.

“We’re all really looking forward to the Lancashire game.

"Lancashire have got one up on us, and we don't want it to be two. Another win there and we can still make it to Finals Day.”
