BRIGHOUSE'S first team have been relegated from Championship Division Two of the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League after fielding ineligible overseas players.

The club have been found to have played an ineligible overseas player on nine occasions this season, and the league have docked them ten points on each occasion, with the 90-point deduction leading to their demotion to the Conference Division for 2019.

A statement from the league's management board reads: "Meetings with Brighouse CC have revealed irregularities in relation to the registration and transfer of players which have led to the club fielding ineligible overseas players.

"As a result, the management board of the Bradford Premier Cricket League have imposed the following sanctions in accordance with the competition's rules.

"Brighouse Cricket Club will be deducted ten points for each occasion when they have played an ineligible player – a total of 90 points.

"As a result of the offences committed, the Brighouse CC first team will be relegated from Championship Division Two into the Conference Division at the conclusion of the current season.

"The management board expects Brighouse CC to fulfil the remaining fixtures of the current season and at all times uphold the standards of the Bradford Premier Cricket League.

"Any failure to do so could result in further sanctions."

League chairman David Young said: "The punishments reflect the seriousness of the offences uncovered during the league's investigation.

"This is a warning to all clubs that we will take strong action whenever there are breaches of registration and transfer regulations.

"We will be carrying out further checks on registrations and transfers conducted by member clubs."
