LEADERS York have a 15-point advantage over their nearest challengers in Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North after the meeting of the competition's top two at Sandhill Lane went the way of the visitors.

Yorkshire’s Jack Leaning was in sparkling from with both bat and ball and shared a double-century opening partnership with Duncan Snell (91) going on to reach 117 before being the first of a final over hat-trick from Christopher Suddaby (3-31) as the hosts were set a target of 265.

In the absence of a quartet of regulars, the hosts promoted Tom Young to open the innings and he made 33 before becoming one of four wickets for Leaning (4-34). County colleague Jonathan Tattersall finished with 3-28 as the home side were bowled out for 145, Suddaby’s top scoring with 46.

Harry Brook continued the theme of first class cricketers dominating the day, his 90 and 3-32 helping secure Yorkshire Academy’s fourth straight win as they overcame Clifton Alliance despite a heroic effort from their captain Scott Hopkinson at Clifton Park.

Gate’s openers put on 99 with Corrie Keeble (73) the main contributor, but when he became one of three wickets for Rawsthorne (3-37), the innings lost momentum and only a determined effort from Ross (40no) and William Bates (33) got them over the line.

Former skipper Ben Elvidge produced a match-winning performance for Scarborough as they saw off the challenge of Driffield Town at North Marine Road.

An innings of 82 under-pinned the home side's total of 201-6 which was boosted late on by Theo Smith’s unbeaten 30, that coming after Ollie Ezard had taken 4-54.

Elvidge then picked up three wickets, as did Jonathan Anderson (3-35) as the visitors were dismissed for 120, only Kavindu Kulasekara (39) offering real resistance.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge returned to winning ways with a 70-run victory at home to Sessay which did nothing to allay the visitors’ relegation concerns.

Skipper Adam Fisher made 53 at the top of the order but it took a partnership between Mark Fisher (40) and Robert Stevens (58) to help to hosts reach 232-9 having been 113-5.

Navin Kavikara took four wickets for 56 for the visitors but he was outshone by Bridge spinner Karl Carver who took 5-27.
