TADCASTER Albion hit Rossington Main for six during a welcome return to pre-season goalscoring form.

Joe Lumsden and Mitch Langton both bagged braces at the Doncaster-based Northern Counties East League outfit, with trialist Lamin Colley and Aaron Hardy completing the rout.

The visitors also included exciting youngster Casey Stewart after his return from a trial with National League new boys Harrogate Town.

Three goals in six first-half minutes put Albion firmly in the driving seat with Lumsden getting his first goal in Taddy yellow, having tapped in following superb wing play by Billy Whitehouse.

Midfielder Langton went on to thump in from distance and Colley netted after a goalkeeping mistake, having earlier hit the bar.

The Brewers went in to the break five goals to the good with Langton brilliantly curling in a free kick, awarded after a Lumsden raid was halted when the home keeper handled outside his area.

Lumsden also completed his double before the break, pouncing after Whitehouse’s effort fell to him following two ricochets.

Inevitable second-half changes disrupted the flow of the game, but the away team added to their tally with ten minutes to go when Hardy converted from the penalty spot after fellow sub Jack Walters had been felled in the box.

Taddy entertain Leeds United under-23s tonight and Michael Morton’s men will play host to last season’s Evo-Stik League first division north champions South Shields on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Pickering Town enjoyed a third pre-season victory after defeating a Jimmy Reid XI 5-0 at Mill Lane.

Reid selected a squad of players who performed for him during his two stints at Pikes chief – the last encompassing two years and ending in November 2013 after the club had finished the previous season in the Northern Counties East League’s top five and lifted the North Riding Cup. But Ryan Blott (2), Ryan Cooper and Billy Logan netted to ensure Paul Marshall’s newly-promoted Evo-Stik League outfit came out on top.

Selby Town warmed up for their NCEL division one curtain-raiser at home to Skegness Town by beating Pontefract Collieries 3-2 and recording their sixth triumph in seven pre-season contests. Charlie Clamp, Sam Cable and Gary Collier were the marksmen.
