LEADERS York ended Castleford's six-match unbeaten run in a contest reduced to 24 overs a side at Clifton Park.

There were wickets for Oliver Leedham (3-18) and Jack Leaning (3-27) as the visitors were restricted to 102-8, with Connor Hyde and Eitan Litvin sharing top billing with 21 apiece.

The home sided then raced to a ten-wicket victory, with Duncan Snell (46no) and Leaning (48no) settling the contest with almost eight overs to spare.

The result leaves York with a slender five-point advantage going into next week's top-of-the-table clash at Woodhouse Grange.

Second-placed Grange produced a dominant display against Acomb, winning at The Green by 79 runs.

Opener Andrew Bilton made 36 before Sam Tennant hit a run-a-ball 32 late on as the visitors posted 186-8 from 32 overs.

The home side struggled from the start, losing three wickets before the score had reached 20, and only skipper Tom Neal, with 29, made any real impact as opposite number James Finch took 5-37 as the competition's bottom side were all out for 107.

Stamford Bridge kept up the pressure on the top two, and at the same time opened up the gap to their nearest challengers, with a nine-wicket win at home against fourth-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Louis Foxton opened the innings and was last out, having made 30 as the visitors were bundled out for just 65, Dominic Rhodes (4-33) taking four of the first five wickets to fall and Ryan McKendry wrapping things up with 3-3.

Ryan Gibson was in no mood to hang around when the home side batted, and his 48 made from just 26 balls helped the hosts reach their target inside seven overs.

Yorkshire Academy won for the third week in a row, the latest of those successes coming at Weetwood against Scarborough by 180 runs.

Edward Barnes' unbeaten half-century was the top score in the home side's total of 242-7 but it was a real team effort, with Matthew Revis (36) and Tom Loten (41) leading the recovery after the loss of two wickets early on.

There were also runs for Benjamin Birkhead (33) and Matthew Taylor (36) as the middle order put on a strong showing.

In contrast, only former Academy player Jonathan Read reached double figures as the visitors were shot out for 64, the lowest total in this season's competition, Barnes finishing with 3-29 and spinner Harry Sullivan 4-4.

It was definitely a day for the batsmen at Kings Mill Road, where only five wicket fell in almost 90 overs.

Alec Drury (86) and Kavindu Kulasekara (47) put on 116 for the second wicket, and Nick Hardgrave finished unbeaten on 62 as hosts Driffield Town scored 253-3.

That total turned out to be well within reach of Sessay, who got off to an excellent start thanks to an opening partnership of 117 from Mark Wilkie (48) and Matthew Till (77), which was followed by an unbroken stand of 73 by Mark Jackson (62no) and Jacob Spencer (39no).

Despite the result, Sessay remain in the bottom two but are now one of four teams vying to avoid relegation who are separated by just five points .

Two of those four met at St George Road, where the match was abandoned due to rain.

Clifton Alliance were well on top, having bowled out hosts Harrogate for 104, with David Friend (3-9) and Liam Green (3-17) each among the wickets.
