ELVINGTON motorbike racer Sam Holme finally looks to have ousted the electrical problems he has struggled with during the British Superbike (BSB) Championship.

The problems forced Holme to retire at Donington Park in round three and miss the subsequent round at Snetterton in the BSB 600 Super Stock.

Now back on the road, round five saw Holme post a 17th-placed finish at Knockhill on his first outing on the track and left him looking forward to the rest of the series.

The signs were good in the free practice runs, with each circuit showing an improvement on the last. Holme finished the second set of laps in 20th with a best lap of 52.87 seconds.

He enjoyed possibly his best start of the year in the race and instantly instated himself in a top-15 battle but a combination of losing his rhythm after the safety car came out following a crash and gear shifting troubles caused him to drop to 17th.

Holme said: "After missing the previous round at Snetterton and having to retire at Donington due to electrical issues, it was nice to get back out and back on it at Knockhill.

"Massive thanks to Paul at Dynobike for resolving the electrical issues. I knew this round was going to be a challenge as we had never raced there before and the majority of the field had, plus some riders were at an official test there a few weeks previously, so we were up against it from the start.

"Nonetheless we were keen to show what we can do.

"I was disappointed on missing out on a points scoring finish, but I was pleased with my progress over the weekend on a track I’d never been to, so it’s certainly something to build on for the rest of the season."
