YORK increased their advantage at the top of Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North with a 19-run victory over Scarborough.

The highlight of the match at Clifton Park was a league record seventh-wicket partnership of 117 between Tom Spearman (56) and Tom Brooks (58).

The pair rescued the home side, who had slumped to 70-6 thanks to wickets from Jonathan Anderson (3-71) and Jack Holt (3-44).

The visitors also struggled early on but a half-century from Oliver Stephenson (53) and 39 from Jonathan Read put them in sight of victory, only for Daniel Woods to take back the initiative with 5-25, with the visitors eventually forced to settle for a share of the points, closing on 192-9.

Adam Fisher (140) and Dulash Udayanga (108) scored centuries as Sheriff Hutton Bridge moved back up to second following a comprehensive win at Acomb by 137 runs.

The pair shared a league record stand of 215 for the third wicket as the visitors reached 323-7.

Tom Neal was the pick of the hosts' bowlers, but his three wickets came at a cost of 88 runs.

Matthew Dale struck a defiant 70 for the home side before Bridge's Sri Lankan import capped a memorable individual performance with 4-30 as the competition's bottom side were dismissed for 186.

Yorkshire Academy ended Woodhouse Grange's six-match unbeaten run, thanks largely to a maiden Premier League century from George Hill (122) as he added 142 for the third wicket with Tom Loten (59) in a total of 265-5.

Bilal Anjum contributed 35 at the top of the order but it was his wickets (3-36) which ultimately sealed the points. Edward Barnes finished with the best figures of 4-20.

However, it was Anjum who picked up the final three wickets, including the key one of top scorer Andrew Bilton who made 90 of his side's 190.

Stamford Bridge kept pace with the leading pack, thanks to a 31-run victory over Sessay at Low Catton Road.

Ryan McKendry (67) and Dominic Rhodes (52) both scored half-centuries for the home side, who reached 207 before being dismissed, with Sessay's overseas signing Navin Kavikara taking 5-48.

Despite 36 from opener Matthew Till, the visitors found themselves 64-6 thanks to an excellent new-ball spell from Ollie Bocking (4-35).

Jacob Spencer led the fightback with 77 but lacked support, with the visitors eventually being all out for 171.

A third consecutive defeat meant that last year's Senior League champions drop into the bottom two for the first time.

The home side looked to be well on top after the visitors found themselves 67-5 but runs down the order from Luke Ramsey (36), Harry Burnhill (32) and Jamie Greavson (34) helped them recover somewhat to 205-9.

The hosts fared little better and were 59-5, with Ollie Ezard (4-50) doing much of the early damage.

Atkinson remained steadfast, receiving vital support from Ashley Griffin (33no) in an eighth-wicket partnership worth 53 which took them to within a couple of runs of the target.

Back-to-back wins for George Ross' side lifts them out of the relegation places and they can now look to kick-on in the second half of the campaign.

Two sides battling in the lower half of the table met at Savile Park and, despite a fine individual performance from visiting all-rounder Samuel Grant, it was hosts Castleford who came out on top against Clifton Alliance.

Grant top-scored with 39 but wickets from David Wainwright (4-13) and Liam Hyde (3-21) ensured that the visitors struggled throughout, eventually being dismissed for 120.

Five wickets from the Alliance opening bowler stunned the home side, leaving them on 36-6 before an unbeaten stand between Connor Hyde (42no) and Edward Cole (37no) got them home in the end.
