HUNTERS York & District Senior League leaders York lost suffered a surprise defeat at Pickering Town.

The home side, who had yet to win a game this season, made 183-9.

Matthew Butler was top-scorer with 39, while visiting skipper Nick Kay finished with 5-28.

The York captain then made 32 but that was not enough to inspire his side to victory as they were bowled out for 101. Tom Croot finished with 4-31, and there were three wickets for Mike Brown.

Folkton & Flixton, who began the day in second, slipped out of the promotion places after they lost at home to Hull & Zingari by seven wickets.

A century from Jack Story and an unbeaten 73 from Ben Wilkinson helped the visitors chase down a target of 200. Earlier Matthew Bunn (3-38) and James Anson (3-46) shared six wickets as the home side were bowled out, with their total including notable contributions from Will Hutchinson (40) and Connor Stephenson (41).

Jack Bolam made 90 to help guide Dunnington to a five-wicket win at Whitkirk – a victory which puts them second, just three points behind the leaders.

Luke Kilby took 6-38 to restrict the home side to 192, despite runs from Simon Webb (32), Sean Pickles (35) and a half-century from Jack Wood.

Bolam masterminded his side's reply, which included 36 from Kilby and, as the season approaches the halfway stage, they must be among the favourites to return to the Premier League.

Studley Royal are another side chasing promotion and they eased to a seven-wicket win over Malton & Old Malton, despite chasing a target of 250.

Rob Nicholson struck an unbeaten 134 for the home side and Matt Coad made 81 as they won with almost ten overs to spare.

Coad had earlier taken 4-66, while, for the visitors, Thomas Bumby (51) and Ryan Gaughan (53) scored half-centuries.

The match at Kings Mill Road between Driffield Town and Easingwold went to the wire, with the visitors winning with just seven balls to spare.

Town pair Kevin Woodcock (66) and Ben Lawrence (52no) both passed 50 in their side's 234-6, but those efforts were overshadowed somewhat by Ryan Waite, who made 88, and Max Cosgrove (78) as, despite three wickets from Jordan Calley (3-77), the visitors reached the target with six wickets down.

There was also a tight finish at Bolton Percy, where visitors Beverley Town won by four runs.
