ONLY four sides – David Lloyd’s first and fifth teams, Wigginton thirds and New Earswick seconds - remain unbeaten at the half-way point of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League season.

In division six, Wigginton thirds have opened up a four-point gap at the top after beating visitors Appleton Roebuck by just four games.

Tom Harpin and Clare Plunkett won 23 games to help Poppleton to their first win against Bishopthorpe.

In division one, Poppleton remain top on games difference, but only after losing their first match to Wetherby Castlegarth, who were boosted by the availability of David and Sophie Woon.

York are on the same number of points after a close win against Wigginton thanks to Matt Everatt and Lou Lister's second-round 11-1 triumph.

In division three, Andy Withers and Lorraine Waudby won one more game than team-mates Ben Storey and Sarah Blacker (28) to keep Wigginton top after playing Poppleton.

York beat Rowntree Park with the new partnership of Neil Giltrap and Anne Jackson unbeaten and the match-winning 12-0 rubber clinched by Neil Johnson and Siobhan Gilfillan.

Appleton Roebuck prevailed against Riccall, with Dave Luscombe and Pauline Belt winning 25 games.

There are new leaders in division five after David Lloyd squeezed past Wilberfoss.

Lloyd's David Morritt and Liz Taylor were the only unbeaten pair.

The unbeaten Gareth Wigdahl and Rachel Booth inspired Dunnington’s success against Cawood.

Veteran couple John Giles and Amber Hickman's first-round 10-2 win helped cement victory for Appleton Roebuck at Wheldrake.

In division nine, Appleton went down 56-52 to top-of-the-table David Lloyd, while Fulford won at Bishopthorpe, with Paul Ruff and Carolyn Taylor amassing an impressive 30 games.

Dunnington won their first match thanks to the unbeaten Rhys Harrison and Rosie Todd, who claimed 27 games at Poppleton.

Joint-top scorers of the week were Richard Scott and Emily Broadbent who won 33 games for unbeaten division ten table-toppers New Earswick seconds against fellow new-team Sutton on Derwent fifths.

The latter club’s fourths had a good win against Bishopthorpe, with Graham Stephenson and Claire Kettle winning 29 games, including in a draw against veteran and season debutant Alan Reynolds and his partner Helen Ruxton.
