YORK City Supporters' Trust will stage their inaugural 2018 FootGolf Tournament on Sunday, July 8.

Fans of the football club and members of the wider community are all invited to take part in the competition and enjoy one of the UK’s most up-and-coming sports.

There are now FootGolf courses in most of the UK's major cities, with regional and national teams having also emerged.

Like golf, the player who puts the ball in a hole on the green in the fewest shots wins – only rather than using a club, players kick a football around the course.

The tournament in York will tee-off at 1.30pm on Sunday, July 8 and will be held at the Skelton Park centre on Shipton Road.

Having been open in York for three years, the course has recently come under the stewardship of Kieran Lowrey who aims to make it one of the best of its kind in the country.

The event is open to everyone aged eight and above, with entry costing £13 for adults, £10 for Under-16s and £30 for a family pass of one adult and up to three juniors.

Twelve holes will be played on the day with junior and adult competitions taking place.

Payment can be made via PayPal to footgolfday@hotmail.com and more information is available @YCSFootGolfDay on Twitter.

All profits from the day will go to the Trust.

Elsewhere, former centre-back Barry Jones and ex-goalkeeper Chris Porter have become the latest additions to the York City Legends squad that will take on an All Star XI outfit at Tadcaster Albion on Sunday, August 5.

Jones and Porter will join fellow ex-Minstermen Paddy Atkinson, Andy Bishop, Steve Bushell, Tony Canham, Iain Dunn, Andy Ferrell, Christian Fox, Russ Howarth, Michael Ingham, Darren Kelly, Scott Kerr, David McGurk, Andy McMillan, Jamie Reed, Shaun Reid, Chris Smith, Steve Tutill and Darren Williams in the Legends team for the Trust-organised event.
