ROUNDHAY Park should be ready to go in the Mr Wolf Sprint Handicap at Pontefract.

The three-year-old chestnut must carry top weight in this six-furlong dash, but he has some really good form in the book and can be trusted to go well for 3lb claimer Lewis Edmunds.

Roundhay Park has won three times from eight starts, most recently at Ripon in April when he absolutely bolted up by nearly four lengths.

Nigel Tinkler's inmate then lost very little in defeat in a typically competitive sprint handicap at York, in which he was doing his best work at the finish.

His trainer no doubt had that performance towards the forefront of his mind as Roundhay Park gets the chance to prove he is just as good over six furlongs.

Maori Bob is a most likeable horse and has a lovely chance in the Park Lane Group Handicap at Brighton.

Michael Bell has done a fine job with this four-year-old gelding, who last season knocked off three victories on the spin in the fashion of a progressive animal.

The handicapper reacted accordingly – he is now 19lb higher than when he won at Beverley last August – but there is enough evidence to suggest he is not done with just yet.

Maori Bob clearly looked in need of the run at Newmarket on May 6 on what was his first outing for 236 days.

Be that as it may, that was a very strong mile-and-a-quarter handicap and it could be that he is not up to competing at that level – at least for now.

Maori Bob looked an entirely different proposition at Lingfield a few weeks later, though, as he galloped on intently to take third place behind Hollywood Road.

That performance perhaps deserves to be upgraded a little, too, as he was very keen early on in what was an unsatisfactorily-run race.

And with Cameron Noble taking off an exceedingly helpful 5lb, allied to favourable conditions, Maori Bob must have every chance.

Renowned jumps trainer Alan King has been ticking along very nicely with his small Flat string, with Cosmeapolitan taken to add further gloss to the statistics at Windsor.

The five-year-old gelding was an eye-catcher at Chester last time out when he stayed on for fourth spot in a race in which it paid to be up with the speed.

Cosmeapolitan should be in his element in the Toby Eady Commemoration Handicap, in which the slightly longer trip should very much play to his strengths.

At Worcester Kim Bailey's Robin The Raven looks sure to go well in the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust Novices' Chase.

A winner at Ludlow in November, he was absent until last month when a beaten odds-on favourite but he was probably a little rusty.

That was his chasing debut and he jumped like an old hand.
