“WE’LL be sick of each other!” laughed the Sheriff Hutton Bridge CC captain Adam Fisher about the prospect of his side meeting York twice more this weekend, and admitted he believes the deposed league leaders will likely be out for revenge.

Tomorrow sees the two come together at Bridge’s Moor Farm Ground in the Yorkshire Premier League North before clashing again at Clifton Park on Sunday in the national cup competition, the Hunters T20 Blast.

The sides played less than three weeks ago, with Bridge coming out comfortably on top, bowling out the hosts for 101 and knocking off their target in just 22.2 overs.

Fisher is understandably pleased with the result, but is wary of the backlash and knows that each game brings its own challenges.

The T20 game could also pose difficulties with selection, as neither Yorkshire players nor overseas players can be fielded, and so Bridge may give an opportunity to second-team players to make the step up.

On the two contests, Fisher said: “We’ll be sick of each other!

“The T20 has fallen on a pretty bad weekend for us, but it lets us give an opportunity to the lads playing in the second team. It will be a very different side to Saturday.

“Saturday is another big game against York – I’m sure they’ll be desperate to avenge the loss.

“There’s four points in it at the top of the table, so that game could swing it all back again – it’d be nice to finish the two games ahead of them.

“We were delighted with the win and for it to be by a decent, convincing margin was really nice.

“We always thought we’d be competitive against them and I know there are teams that have beaten them, but I don’t think there will be many sides that beat them at York.

“But Saturday will be a different game. I’m looking forward to it again. York will be looking to bounce back, especially with it being so soon afterwards.

“We’ve had a few tough games in a row against Yorkshire Academy, Harrogate and York and we’re delighted with the way we’ve played.

“Fingers crossed we can put in another performance and give York a run for their money.

“But we’re just taking each game at a time and not getting too far ahead of ourselves.”

The only other side to have enjoyed a full game on a rain-soaked weekend, Yorkshire Academy, will travel to Sessay tomorrow. Academy, who sit in fourth place, put on a convincing display to beat Driffield Town by 66 runs.

Sessay’s fixture at Woodhouse Grange was abandoned.

Grange tomorrow travel to ninth-placed Castleford, whose fixture at Acomb also fell to the weather without a ball bowled, as did the game between Stamford Bridge and Scarborough.

Bridge will be looking to continue their good run of form since defeat at York that has taken them to convincing wins over Clifton Alliance and Driffield Town.

Bottom side Acomb, who are yet to claim a win of any sort, are the visitors to Clifton Park tomorrow in a rematch of the most recent Bank Holiday Monday fixture that gave Alliance their only complete win to date.

Then, all sides will be in action again on Sunday in the Hunters T20 Blast.
