CHARLIE ELLIOT was the hat-trick star of the show as York CC progressed into their regional group final in the ECB National Club Championship with victory over Yorkshire Premier League North rivals Stamford Bridge.

Victory came on the back of an outstanding display of seam bowling from Elliot, who finished with the remarkable figures of five wickets for two runs in eight overs.

The spell also included a hat-trick and left the home side reeling on 33-6.

Martyn Woodliffe top scored for Stamford with 26 before he was dismissed by York skipper Daniel Woods, who took 2-9 in his eight overs as the home side were bowled out for just 92.

Matt Beckett (2-11) picked up two of the three wickets to fall in the reply as the visitors cruised into the next round with almost a dozen over to spare, Chris Booth ending unbeaten on 44.

York's reward is a home tie against Richmondshire of the North Yorkshire & South Durham League in the group one final.

Woodhouse Grange booked their place in the group two final with victory in the final over of their tie at Sandhill Lane against Sheffield Collegiate.

The visitors had been struggling at 22-3 before a partnership between Jamie Carrington (73) and Henry Eldred (48) worth 134 helped to boost their total to 195-7 from 40 overs, Tom Young (2-20) and Josh Jackson (2-38) both picking up two wickets.

Opener Andrew Bilton set the home side's reply on its way with 42, but three wickets each from Robert Shaw (3-43) and Matthew Lee (3-27) looked to have tilted the balance in the visitors' favour.

Nevertheless, a half-century from skipper James Finch set up a thrilling finale, and 21 off 14 balls from Simon Tennant secured a memorable victory.

Sessay narrowly missed out on joining Woodhouse in the final as they were beaten at Doncaster Town - putting in a tremendous fight before losing out in another game that went to the final over.

Mark Wilkie (77) and Stuart Clark (49) built an excellent platform for the visitors to push on from in the closing overs, but both fell to Warren Graca, who clawed things back for the home side with 4-25, ultimately restricting the visitors to 195-6.

Town skipper James Stuart (37) gave his side the early initiative in the second innings but they then lost six wickets for 49 runs to find themselves 116-6.

Joe Gallagher (29) helped to steady things before an unbeaten 67 from Luke Townsend proved pivotal as the hosts reached their target with just three balls to spare.
