DIVISION one champions Thorpe United ensured their place in the last four of the York Minster Engineering League Senior Cup with a 4-1 defeat of top-flight Sporting Knavesmire.

Paul Moran hit a hat-trick for the Selby side with James Barrett adding their fourth to send Thorpe through to the semi-finals on Saturday alongside the top three from this year's premier division.

Old Malton St Mary's will face Thorpe after receiving a bye following Dunnington's withdrawal from the competition.

Huntington Rovers will be seeking revenge against Wigginton Grasshoppers in the other semi-final after last week's loss to them in the York FA Cup final.

James Edmond (2) and Lee Bunce struck Huntington's goals in a 3-0 quarter-final win at Malton & Norton, while champions Wigginton had Pat Evans (2) and Luke Addison to thank for their 3-0 win over Poppleton United.

The League Junior Cup final will be fought out between Rufforth United and Malt Shovel at Tockwith on Monday night.

Jack Morris, Jake Raistrick and Darren Moore fired Shovel to a 3-0 victory over Bubwith White Swan, a scoreline that would have undoubtedly been worse for Bubwith but for the heroics of Andy Stone in their goal.

Meanwhile, a Danny Cates brace saw Rufforth grab a final spot following a 2-1 win at Haxby Town.

James Good and Christopher Blakey were on target for Tockwith in their 2-2 draw with York RI in the Reserve Cup - Tockwith going through 3-1 on penalties.

Goals from Aaron Tiplady and James Hunt dumped reserve 'A' champions Wigginton Grasshoppers out of the cup as Thorpe registered a 2-1 success at Mill Lane. James Sutton replied for the hosts.
