YORK 1 are ensuring the Fulford Ladies Tennis League has a familiar look about it, already topping the table as the only unbeaten team.

A 75-33 triumph over the club’s second team and a victory over Dunnington has put them in pole position.

Elsewhere, despite racking up 29 games, Ellie Page and Laura Rhodes could not prevent Bishopthorpe losing 55-53 against Castlegarth.

Pocklington and Dunnington have both made strong starts, beating David Lloyd and Wigginton respectively to keep in touch at the top.

David Lloyd 2 have started well in division two, with Lisa Garland and Liz Taylor scoring 26 games in a 63-45 win over Boston Spa.

But Rufforth only just scraped past Castlegarth 2 57-51, while Starbeck managed their first win of the campaign against a depleted Pocklington side.

Poppleton failed to field a team, though, against Fulford.

Dunnington 2 and Copmanthorpe are division three’s early pace-setters.

Cop’s Rhian Scott and Laura Simpson took 27 games as their team breezed past Bubwith 71-37 and Dunnington overcame Knaresborough 59-49.

Lisa Hunter and Sheena Oddy were in form for Wistow in their win over Boston Spa while, Fulford 2 inflicted a 63-45 defeat on Bishopthorpe 2.

Mary Smith and Jane Pemberton won all their rubbers to lead Cliffe to victory at Tollerton in division four.

Sutton saw off Appleton, while Sandra Burley and Catherine Field netted 27 games for Wigginton 2 to peg back high-flying Heworth and claim a 69-39 win.

In division five, Poppleton 3 were tight victors over Fulford, with Kate Harpin and Sue Jones top scoring for the former.

Poppleton 2 went down to Wilberfoss, whose three couples all took at least 20 games.

Maxine Gordon and Madalena Moverley starred for David Lloyd 3 in a 73-35 defeat of Copmanthorpe 2.

In division six, Dunnington 3 beat Cawood 55-53, aided by a 22-game haul from Judith Peeke-Vout and Sarah Granville.

Rufforth 2 had a big 83-25 win at York 3.

Kim Lees and Nicola Browne were undefeated as Stamford Bridge recorded a 62-46 victory at Dunnington in division seven.

Wilberfoss beat Sheriff Hutton 63-45, while Rufforth 3 continued their unbeaten run, defeating Copmanthorpe 65-43.
