LIAM FLANAGAN netted five as Selby Town demolished FC Bolsover 8-0, but the Robins will still miss out on a Northern Counties East League division one play-off spot.

It was nevertheless a good night for Selby and the prolific Flanagan, who took his total for the season to 35.

Wins in their final two games will see Town finish in a commendable seventh place.

Manager Christian Fox was forced into another goalkeeping change with Josh Archer coming in for Chris Barrett, while youngsters Harry Bissett and Lucas Wilson were named on the bench.

It did not take long for the gulf in class between the sides to become apparent as Selby cut through the Bolsover defence almost at will, spurning several chances before Gary Collier opened the scoring on 15 minutes.

The visitors were overrun by Town's midfield, with Danny Snaith acquitting himself particularly well, and they could not contain the pace and trickery of the front three.

Flanagan had brought up his hat-trick by half-time and Joe Dale joined him on the scoresheet after seemingly dribbling past half the Bolsover team and slotting in.

With the points wrapped up, Selby went into the second period looking to hit 100 goals for the season - and that they did, despite Bolsover dropping deep and defending in numbers.

Flanagan got his fourth of the night via a wicked deflection and his fifth as the game became scrappy before Ryan Woodhead brought up the century in the closing stages.
