NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLFC will be hoping to get their Yorkshire Men’s League premier division campaign off the ground on Saturday when they travel to Bentley.

The Doncaster side currently lead the way in the division with three wins from three, while All Blacks have lost both their league games.

Bentley opened the campaign just scraping past Lindley Swifts 12-10 before winning 34-20 at Upton and 36-24 at home to Nottingham Outlaws.

Last week, Jack Stearman’s side were narrowly beaten 34-32 in the maiden North Yorkshire Invitation Cup final by York Lokomotive, who picked up the club’s first piece of silverware in their 10 years of existence.

The side – which comprised 12 under-18s – pushed Lokos but came up just short as a try in the final five minutes went unconverted.

Early division one pace-setters Heworth will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent record when they visit fourth-placed Queensbury.

Saturday’s hosts have also enjoyed a perfect start to the season, with last Friday’s 32-16 win at Keighley Albion their second of two.

The Black and Whites of Heworth won by the same 32-16 scoreline at home to Allerton Bywater last week after notching 18 second-half points without reply.

At the other end of the table, York Acorn ‘A’ will be eager to end their 100 per cent record and bag their first win of the campaign.

Acorn are away for the third time this season and will travel to last year’s division two champions Hull Wyke, who enjoyed a 30-12 win at Skirlaugh Bulls last weekend.

The Blue and Golds fell 34-6 at Hunslet Club Parkside last Saturday after having been beaten 33-16 at Oulton Raiders a fortnight previously.

York Lokomotive have one more week of rest before they kick off their division three campaign on Saturday, May 5 at Brighouse Rangers.
