MALT SHOVEL have secured the division three crown in the York Minster Engineering League.

A 3-1 victory over high-flying visitors Rufforth United means they cannot be caught at the top, and gives them back-to-back titles after winning division four 12 months ago.

Danny Cates struck Rufforth's goal. Morris, Pearse and Brace bagged the important strikes for Shovel.

Rufforth need three points from their last two games to take second place off Cawood, who completed their season with a 3-0 success at Fulford. Jamie Forrest, Jean-Pierre Grenier and Matthew Ward were their marksmen.

James Smith (2) and Steve McClean fired in the goals as bottom team Wheldrake caused an upset in division four, defeating Stillington Sports & Social Club 3-1.

Will Gardiner replied for Stillington, who was guaranteed anyway to finish third.

Wheldrake meet Swinton in the final game to decide who gets the wooden spoon.

Dan Shaw and Tom Bateson bagged braces for LNER Builders in a 5-2 win over Elm Park. Al Malton hit their other goal. The two teams finish the season on the same points in mid-table.

Dunnington upset reserve 'A' title favourites Huntington Rovers as goals from Tom Anderson (2) and Joe Allerton gave them a 3-2 win over the defending champions.

Lee Bunce and Dominic Colley were on target for Rovers, who still hold the destiny of the title in their own possession with games in hand on the teams above.

Jack Coates gave Wigginton Grasshoppers an early lead against Easingwold Town and the home side stayed ahead throughout, eventually winning 4-2.

Jack Thompson (2) and James Sutton were Wiggy's marksmen, with Will Bygott and Lee Johnson replying for Town.

Pocklington Town remained second after an 8-1 thrashing of Malton & Norton. An own goal plus efforts from Tom Knowles (3), Sam Parkinson (2), Jason Nattrass and Connor Mathie made up the hosts' haul.

Jake Smythe hit five goals in Thorpe's 13-1 romp against Copmanthorpe, for whom Charlie Gregory grabbed a consolation.

Luke Zacharenko and Ricki Hutton (2) struck for Hemingbrough United in a 3-2 win at Old Malton St Mary's.

Harrison Signs pulled off a magnificent result against promoted Poppleton United to drag themselves out of the second relegation place in reserve 'B'.

Goals from Karl Barbaro, Neil Richardson and substitute Alex Day gained them a much-needed success and plunged Tadcaster Magnets into a perilous position.

Magnets themselves were defeated 3-1 by Haxby who had goals from Dave Thompson, Kyle Varley and George Rhodes to thank for their victory. Thomas Marshall netted for the home side. Bottom team Heworth played out a 2-2 draw with Tockwith.

Joseph Drydal (2) and Dave Laverack bagged for Wilberfoss as they all but wrapped up the reserve 'C' title with a 3-1 home win over Brooklyn.
