PICKERING Town kept up the pressure on second-placed Pontefract Collieries in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The Pikes defeated visitors Bottesford Town 4-0, courtesy of a Ryan Blott (fifth and 64th minutes) brace and late singles from Ryan Cooper (79) and Billy Logan (85), both after beating the offside trap, while Ged Dalton set up two of the goals.

Pickering are third, three points behind Pontefract, who have a game in hand, but both could catch leaders AFC Mansfield, who are on 93 points but have already played 40 matches.

Collieries are on 88 from 36 and the Pikes 85 from 37, and both have better goal differences than the front-runners.

Harrogate Railway Athletic won 2-1 at rubbing rags Clipstone, but only after falling behind to a sixth-minute Jermaine Jatu penalty.

Athletic swiftly equalised via Lincoln Adams but it took until the 64th minute for Josh Underwood to get the winner.

Harrogate are a point above Hall Road Rangers, who are in the highest of the three demotion berths, but the latter have four games in hand.

In Division One, Selby Town's fading play-off hopes received a hammer blow with a 3-2 defeat at Ollerton Town.

Gavin King scored twice in three minutes to put the hosts in command just before the half-hour, and it was 3-0 when Callum Atkinson netted in the 78th minute.

Selby hit back via Gary Collier after 82 minutes and Jordan Snodin four minutes after that, but Ollerton Town had more energy, despite having played a game more in the past week.

Knaresborough Town, confirmed as champions in midweek, lost 4-2 at home to Yorkshire Amateur, netting via Daniel Clayton and Stephen Bromley in the third and 35th minutes.

In Evo-Stik Division One North, Scarborough Athletic won 3-1 at Colne to stay second on goal difference, but crucially the Seasiders have a game in hand.
