DRINGHOUSES won 5-4 on penalties to lift the York FA Under 19s Cup at Tockwith after a six-goal thriller in the final against York Cubs.

Cameron Hall began and finished the scoring in normal time but, in between Cubs levelled twice through Tom Charlesworth and Charlie Buckley, before taking the lead through Dan Zimmer.

Houses’ other marksman was Jack Stockell.

The two teams had initially cancelled each other out for the first quarter-of-an-hour, before Hall pounced from close range.

Cubs went on to equalise ten minutes later as a Finn Coughlan free kick from the left was headed home by Charlesworth.

Charlie Marshall then put the ball over the Cubs’ crossbar from six yards and Harry Bissett couldn’t finish after a fine solo run as the half came to a close.

After the break, both teams started to create chances, but it was Dringhouses who went in front again on 70 minutes after Stockell finished off a breakaway from a Cubs corner.

But Buckley restored parity on 75 minutes with a bullet header and Zimmer nudged Cubs in front, as he placed the ball past the advancing Dringhouses keeper.

Their joy was shortlived, though, with Hall volleying in from a corner just one minute later.

Dringhouses then held their nerve from the spot to lift the cup for a fifth consecutive year.

The trophy, sponsored by York MotorSports Village, was presented by York FA member Geoff Hartley.

Max Adamson bagged a brace, meanwhile, in the York FA U12s’ final, as Riccall United overcame Bishopthorpe White Rose 3-1 at Tockwith.

Adamson latched on to a through ball to open the scoring on seven minutes from seven yards out.

He went on to strike again with a close-range 16th-minute header, while Jamie Hudson made it 3-0 at the break, as he fired into the top corner.

Bishopthorpe then weathered early second-half pressure from Riccall before scoring their consolation on 42 minutes when James Gibson curled in a 20-yard shot.

The trophy, also sponsored by York MotorSports Village, was presented by York FA member James Unwin.
