SELBY Town's West Riding County FA Cup final against holders Farsley Celtic has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 17.

The game, kick-off 7.45pm, will be held at the West Riding County FA Headquarters in Woodlesford, Leeds.

It is Selby's opportunity to win the silverware for the first time since 1949, when they beat Goole Town 2-0 in a replay at Flaxley Road after drawing 1-1 on the road.

There are currently 70 places separating Selby and Farsley in the football pyramid - the Celts are fifth in the Evo-Stik League premier and the Robins lie ninth in Northern Counties East League division one following a winless March.

Selby have, however, shown they can spring a surprise in the competition, having won 4-2 at National League side Halifax Town in the quarter-finals.

The Robins then won 2-0 at higher-division neighbours Tadcaster Albion in the semi-finals to put themselves in with the chance to win the competition for the first time in 69 years.

Promotion-chasing Farsley have, by comparison, had an easier ride, with their highest-ranked opponents being Evo-Stik League north strugglers Brighouse Town, although they did come back from a goal down to win 2-1 at NCEL premier high-fliers Pontefract Collieries.
