HOUNDS FC eased past York Nomads in the last quarter-final of the York Fastpack Sunday Morning League Senior Cup.

Sam Cable netted twice in the 6-0 win alongside Thomas Hogg, Luke Pearce, Issac Leach and Oliver Bloxman to help a Hounds side who have been firing on all cup fronts progress in yet another.

Division one leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers went 17 points clear at the summit with a 3-2 comeback win at Malt Shovel.

The hosts went ahead midway through the first half when a low shot evaded Wiggy’s stand-in goalkeeper James Ellerby, but the sides were level shortly after when Jamie Willstrop found the bottom corner from 10 yards out.

Shovel continued to press and were rewarded before the break when the ball was forced over in a scramble following a corner.

Both sides had chances to score after the restart with Pat Evans and Tom Derbyshire both seeing efforts saved by the Shovel keeper and the hosts having two cleared off the line.

Hoppers drew level with 15 minutes remaining as Willstrop lashed in his second after good work from Steve Jarvis.

Honours looked likely to be shared until Luke Roberts rose to head home a Neale Holmes free kick with virtually the last play of the game.

Malt Shovel were also in action midweek to help make up games missed, taking all three points with a comfortable 8-0 win at home to NUR.

Derry Robson scored a hat-trick, Jack Stocks and Gary Collier both added two apiece and Kieran Latham rounded off the scoring.

Bramham Sunday moved up into third place after winning 4-0 at basement side Selby Olympia thanks to goals from Josh Wilson, Anthony Walsh, Jonny Hadley and Liam McAntee.

Division two's third-placed Walnut Tree were made to work for a 2-1 at bottom side Kings Head.

Thomas Johnson and Chris Walters were the first-half scorers for the visitors while Ged Christian was on target for Kings Head in the second period.

Acomb Club were the team of the round, claiming a 17-1 home win over York Medics.

Thomas Medd bagged himself a double hat-trick and there were trebles each for Oliver Murray and Alex Day. Substitute Nick McBride bagged a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Jack Willis, Cole Carter and David Jamieson.

Greg Chambers scored York Medics' only goal.

A good fightback ensured K Town United rescued a point in a 4-4 at Rawcliffe United.

The hosts were three goals to the good at half-time, but a second-half brace from Jim Heels and finishes from Jonathan Bebb and Thomas Drake ensured the spoils were shared.

Clockhouse leapfrogged Thorpe into sixth after beating Wentworth 6-1.

Player-Manager Nike Horne hit the back of the net for Clockhouse along with Billy Church, Bradley Ward, Jack Bywater, Kieran Nelson and Dylan Howlett.
