CITY of York Hockey Club Ladies I fell to a single goal in a hard-fought 1-0 home loss to North League division one leaders Pendle Forest.

Forest looked to threaten the City goal early in the game but were unable to get past Lou Bessey and Heather MacDonald in defence.

In response, City were quick to move the ball from the back and some strong passages of play saw the hosts dominate Forest's 'D' for much of the half, but no goal was forthcoming before the break.

City opened the second period wanting to build on their strong first but Forest took the lead shortly after the restart.

The hosts dug deep and Millie Barnes was instrumental in getting them into the visitors' 'D' for much of the half, but City were unable to convert their chances. They remain in mid-table.

City of York Ladies II and VI saw their games postponed because of the weather, while City of York Ladies III's game was called off after 19 minutes due to snow on the pitch.

City of York Ladies IV lost 3-1 to Wakefield Wanderers in division two. The second game of their weekend double-header was called off.

City of York Ladies V battled to a 1-1 home draw with Batley in division four north.

The hosts started strongly, passing well and winning short corners, but they were unable to convert and five minutes before half-time, Batley took the lead from a short of their own.

City opened the second half strongly with even more possession and shots on goal, Desi Willms levelling from a short corner.

Libby Kimpson was named player of the match.

In division five north, bottom side City of York VII lost 1-0 at home to Leeds V after an own goal early in the first half.
