YORK Fastpack Sunday Morning League division one leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers capitalised on second-placed Hounds being in cup action to extend their lead at the summit to 14 points with a 4-1 win at Brayton.

The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute with a finish into the roof of the net. Brayton stepped up a gear, giving Grasshoppers a good game, but conceded a second with some sloppy defending.

Five minutes from the break, the hosts' Adam Gilliland found the net to halve the deficit.

Brayton's defence was resolute in the second period, making goalline clearances while the keeper pulled off a number of saves, but the visitors pushed through regardless with two more goals.

James Ellerby bagged two with Tom Nicholson and John Cavanagh both adding for Wigginton.

Bishopthorpe strung together two consecutive wins for the first time this season with a 4-1 home victory over Selby Olympia. Tom Lazenby was the goalscorer for the visitors.

Bramham were narrow 4-3 victors over visitors Hambleton, who had taken the lead with a close-range finish from Adam Deakin and doubled their advantage as striker Kane Snelson pounced on a rebound.

The hosts pulled two back before the break and then took the lead after the restart before Hambleton's Michael Braithwaite levelled with a simple tap-in from the keeper's save.

Bramham found the winner when they bundled home a ball headed back across goal.

Rob Thomas, Anthony Walsh, Tom Kirk and Josh Wilson scored for Bramham.

Division two leaders Atlanta beat Walnut Tree 4-0 to consign them to third spot.

Haxby United were the beneficiaries of Walnut Tree's slide, climbing to second after winning 9-3 at home to K Town United.

A double hat-trick from Harry Moorcroft, a brace from Tom Kilvington and a single finish from Lewis Clark secured the points for Haxby.

Johnny Bebb scored a brace and Thomas Drake one for K Town.

Acomb Club recovered from a one-goal deficit at half-time to beat visiting Wentworth 4-3 thanks to Oliver Murray and Ryan Day both hitting doubles.

Wentworth had Will Moss, Dom Green and Dave Dawson on target to run the hosts close.

Thorpe United ran out 6-1 winners at Burnholme thanks to doubles from Matt Jamison and Adam Blades with Jake Wild and Andrew Jackson both adding. Oli Coulthard got Burnholme's first-half reply.

York Medics claimed a comfortable 5-0 home win over White Horse courtesy of an Alex Renwick hat-trick and Sam Willet's brace.
