FULFORD'S Tom Lewis lifted the York Conservative Club Faber Shield Hylton-Foster Billiards Trophy after beating Acomb's Paul Holmes in the final.
This match and the semi-finals were played at Fulford, with David Appleby of sponsors Hair Flicks presenting the.
The final saw Lewis playing off a handicap of plus-55 with Holmes playing off minus-20.
Both players found it difficult to make any telling breaks.
Holmes had runs of 22 and 23 to reduce his deficit and managed to take the lead at 142-137, but Lewis his back with a break of 23 break and finished the match at his next opportunity to win 165-142.
The semis-final draw had seen Lewis beat Bootham's Colin Robinson, while Holmes took on Acomb clubmate Adrian Barraclough.
The former was a very tense match with neither player able to make a significant break before Lewis eventually ran out winning 165-112.
The all-Acomb semi proved to be a very close affair.
Barraclough looked a sure-fire winner as he raced into a 140-88 lead, needing only 25 more points for victory.
But Holmes played excellent billiards to restrict his opponent to only 17 more while scoring 77 to win 165-157.
