ADRIANO Moke has been fined by York City and warned about his future conduct following social media comments in which he challenged one of the club’s fans to a fight.

The 28-year-old midfielder responded to jibes made to his Instagram account following Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Curzon Ashton, inviting one critic – City supporter Matt Nugent - to meet him and bring “who ever” and “wat ever tools” he wanted.

Moke also upset and offended the club’s wider supporter base when he dismissed another online supporter taunt – from David Holder - as the thoughts of “just a fan.”

Outlining Moke’s punishment, while stressing that the former Glenn Hoddle Academy graduate had expressed sincere regret for his actions and extended that apology to the club’s supporters, City boss Martin Gray said: "I will not tolerate that sort of behaviour from any player at this football club.

“Adriano may have been emotional after a poor performance by the team on Saturday but that does not excuse his comments. As a York City player, you are representing the club and the wider community and you need to maintain high standards and Adriano accepts that his comments fell below those standards."

In the parts of his exchange with Nugent that were shared on the internet, the fan contacted Moke, declaring: “You’re a weirdo mush.”

Moke then reacted by posting: “Say it to my face “mush”.

“Wat u saying then we getting this popping or wat u meet me then or wat mush. Send ur number then u tell me where u are and we get it going then.

“Tell me where to meet you I meet you there today bring who ever ur bringing tools wateva cos I tell ya now ur gunna need it no joke I’m actually being mad serious.”

A mocking Nugent responded: “Come park.”

Holder, meanwhile, used sarcasm on spotting an action picture from the Curzon defeat, messaging: “Ahh proof you actually started today, didn’t hear you mentioned once…” with Moke retorting: “Does it look like I care what you people say really your boring I play for myself and my team not you your just a fan so shut up and get off my page.”

Former Wrexham midfielder Moke has made 29 appearances this term, scoring two goals, taking his tally to five in 87 outings during two spells with the Minstermen.

He signed a 12-month extension to his current contract last month, which will keep him on the Bootham Crescent books until the summer of 2019.
