NEW Earswick 'A' enjoyed a 96-58 win over Doncaster in Yorkshire League division two to pick up 10 of the 14 points.

At home, Andy Humphreys, Gary Jones, Ralph Tiplady and Paul Humphreys led 8-3 after seven ends but lost the next eight to go 15-8 down. Two threes cut the gap but the last four ends were shared as Donny won 18-16 win.

Gary Stockton, Dave Kermode, Andrew Fothergill and Tony Abbot eased 17-4 up after 14 ends and a late five, four and three gave them 29-11 win.

At Doncaster, Dave Sykes, Rod Walker, Mick Head and Paul Dawson only won one of the first 10 ends but trailed only 10-5 and levelled at 11-11 after 15. Each side won three of the last six, with Doncaster scraping home 16-15.

John Harrison, Colin Ellis, Colin Pickup and Bill Waldie led 20-17 after 15 ends, then picked up a five, three and two for a 30-17 win.

New Earswick 'B' beat Harrogate 81-63, also claiming 10 points.

Brian Birch, Brian Hutton, Terry Bellwood and Dick Osguthorpe led 10-3 after eight ends and 21-7 after 14, going on to win 25-11.

Joe Barker, Nigel Steels, Alwyn Anderson and Eric Cookson were 11-11 after 13 ends and only 16-15 down with two to play but lost 20-15.

At Harrogate, Paul Murray, John Snowden, Bob Barrett and Brian Gray also had a tight game but two fours in the second half helped the hosts win 19-12.

Gordon Fratson, Dave Toms, Vic Thompson and Kevin Potter trailed 9-1 after five ends but, after a six at sixth, went 11-10 up after 10 and dominated thereafter for a 29-13 win.

Selby pipped hosts New Earswick 69-64 in the North Eastern League to take six of the 10 points.

Earswick won both home rinks, with Lynn Page, Kay Hutchinson, Margaret Pearson and Majorie Watson enjoying a stunning fightback.

They trailed 18-4 after 10 ends, H Arundel's team including two fours and two threes, but won the next four to make it 18-10. It became 19-10 with three to play but Earswick scored a four then a seven for a 21-19 lead, holding on to victory as Selby got a single at the last.

Sally Domville, Moira Ellis, Jenny Philpott and Norma Davies had a tight match with S Williamson, coming from 15-13 down with two ends to play to win 18-15.

Selby won both their home rinks and took the aggregate too thanks to J Simpson's rink.

Having been 7-7 with Doramy Bellwood, Jean Cann, Margaret Morgan and Kath Sykes after seven ends, Simpson stormed ahead to win 20-12.

C Sarvent trailed 6-1 to Carol Thompson, Gemma Broadhead, Irene Warrington and Monika Morgan after five ends but a three and four helped her team go 10-7 up after 10. Earswick won five of the next six to lead 13-12 but two singles gave Selby a 14-13 win.
