NEW boys Topspin York remain top of the first division of the York & District Table Tennis League after they crushed Coneysthorpe 'B' 9-1.

Nathan Taylor, James Atkins and Joe Wright were all unbeaten on the night with Coneysthorpe’s consolation point coming from the doubles.

Rivals York RI 'A' thrashed stablemates York RI 'C' by the same scoreline, with Filip Wojtkowiak and Paul Robertson on top form.

Wojtkowiak was pushed to the limit by a battling Andy Kirk, recovering from two games down to finally win 3-2.

Peter Cowburn and Calum Goodwin recorded maximums as University 'A' defeated Clarence 'A' 8-2, while Coneysthorpe 'A' and York RI 'B' shared the spoils in a 5-5 draw, with a Martin Lowe treble the highlight.

In the second division, Ian Williams was on top form as Shepherds 'A' dispatched Poppleton 8-2, and a treble from Rachel Greener was the highlight as Bootham 'A' defeated University 'B' 7-3.

York RI 'E' prevailed 6-4 against a dogged Strensall 'A', with Ady McClaren and Arthur Sorley contributing two wins each and Mike Robinson responding in kind for the villagers.

A maximum haul from John Flintoft could not prevent Bootham 'B' edging out Ryedale@RI 6-4. It was a busy week for Arthur Sorley as he starred with Mark Blackburn in an 8-2 victory for York RI 'D' against York RI 'F'.

Wigginton & Haxby 'A' consolidated their position at the top of division three as they recorded victories against both Strensall 'B' (6-4) and Clarence CIU 'B' (8-2). Paul Halmshaw and John McLaughlin contributed five wins each across the two matches.

An unbeaten effort from Dave Simpson made the difference as BT 'A' defeated Clarence 'E' 6-4, and Chris Maude led the way as Clarence CIU 'B' defeated Shepherds 'B' by the same scoreline.

York RI 'G' had Paul Greenwood and Peter Smalley to thank as they beat York RI 'H' 8-2. Clarence CIU 'A' continued their charge up the table by whitewashing Clarence 'F' 10-0, while a maximum from Chris McLuskie was the highlight as South Bank 'A' and Clarence 'D' shared the points in a 5-5 draw.

South Bank 'B' are leading the way in division four following successive victories over University 'D' by 7-2 and 10-0.

Clive Pottage was on top form as Wigginton & Haxby 'B' beat Clarence 'G' 8-2, whereas a treble from Nigel Baker could not prevent Shepherds 'C' slipping to a 6-4 defeat to University 'C'. Veterans Bill Carter and Jim Stevenson were unstoppable as BT 'B' crushed York RI 'I' 9-1.
