NEW Earswick 'A' beat York 'B' 78-51 in Yorkshire League division two, collecting 12 of the 14 points.

At Earswick, John Harrison, Ken Harrison, Colin Pickup and Bill Waldie led visitors W Flavell, A Hampshire, D White and Tex Stevens 13-12 with three ends to go before picking up a two and a five for a 20-13 win.

Bob Elliot, Dave Kermode, Tony Abbot and Kevin Liddell dropped singles at the first three ends against K Griffith,

J Sandall, D Clark and Geoff Walker but won 11 of the next 13 and bagged a late three and five to win 27-9.

At Thanet Road, Colin Ellis, Gary Jones, Ralf Tiplady and Paul Humphreys led hosts K Simpson, A Smith, T Wilford and Mal Bulmer 10-6 after 11 ends but it was 10-10 after 14 and 14-14 with three to go. Earswick picked up three singles for a 17-14 win.

Alan Clapham, P Riley, Ray Calpin and Malcolm Thompson got York's only points. They were locked at 11-11 with Dave Imerson, Dave Elcock, Mick Head and Paul Dawson after 16 ends but went into the last leading by two. Earswick held three but Thompson drew second shot as the hosts held on to win 15-14.

New Earswick 'B' hammered Doncaster 'B' 95-56, picking up all 14 points in division three.

At home, Paul Murray, Steve Hudson, Bob Barrett and Brian Gray trailed 5-0 after three ends and 9-7 after 10 but picked up two fours in the next four and had the better of the last seven for a 24-15 win.

Gordon Fratson, Bill Nuckey, Vic Thompson and Kevin Potter came from 6-2 down after five ends to lead 11-6 after eight and 14-11 after 14. They stormed home to triumph 30-13.

At Doncaster, Brian Birch, Brian Hutton, Terry Bellwood and Dick Osguthorpe, with the help of a five, led 15-5 after 11 ends. Doncaster fought back but Earswick won four of the last six for a 21-13 win.

Joe Barker, Nigel Steels, Alwyn Anderson and Eric Cookson were behind until threes at the 15th and 16th gave them a 15-13 lead en route to a 20-15 win.

New Earswick lost 86-62 to Doncaster in the Yorkshire Ladies' League.

Lynn Page, Kay Hutchinson, Annette Prosser and Majorie Watson got Earswick's only success - storming 23-4 up after 14 ends to set up a 25-12 win.

Conversely, Sandra Hemsley, Moira Ellis, Sally Domville and Norma Davies were 20-1 down after 13 ends before consecutive fours helped them to cut the gap to 22-10.

At Doncaster, Lesley Nuckey, Sue Adams, Monika Morgan and Irene Warrington dropped two fours and a six to trail 15-4 after six ends, Donny going on to win 25-15.

Doramy Bellwood, Gemma Broadhead, Jennie Phipott and Margaret Morgan similarly dropped consecutive fours to trail 11-2 after six. They replied with a five but Doncaster pulled away to win 27-12.
