NEW Earswick Ospreys played out a thriller against Scarborough in Yorkshire Over-55s League division two - the scores ending 75-75.

Ospreys still came off second best though, picking up six points to Boro's eight.

At home, Dave Counter, Vic Woolley Kevin Potter and Terry Bellwood led 13-9 after 14 ends but lost the next three to fall behind for the first time at 14-13 with four to play.

In a topsy-turvy finale, they got a two, dropped a two, got a two, then dropped a one to end all square at 17-17.

Pat Inwood, Gordon Johnson, Vic Thompson and Eric Cookson only scored three singles over the first eight ends to trail 10-3 but won the next four to lead 11-10.

Again they scored only one single over the next five to go 18-12 down and, although they fought back with a five at the 18th, they dropped singles over the last three for a 21-17 defeat.

On the east coast, Dave Booth, Dave Toms, John Taylor and Bob Barrett soared 13-2 up after eight ends but lost five of the next six, including dropping a seven at the 14th, to go 18-14 behind. The last seven ends were even, the game ending 22-18 to Boro.

Gordon Fratson, Peter Waddington, Dave Hutchinson and Alwyn Anderson dropped a six at the first end and trailed 9-0 after three but they only allowed the home rink three singles over the next 14 ends and picked up two fours along the way to lead 21-12 with four to play, going on to win 23-15.
