FULFORD 'A' started the second half of the York Conservative Clubs Snooker League where they had left off the first as they beat Bootham 'B' 5-2 to remain nine points clear at the top of the table.

Captain Tom Lewis led the way, beating Steve Cain and knocking in a 24 break along the way.

Tristan Owen beat Ian Robinson to keep his 100 per cent record in the league intact, and Jamie Husband made it 3-0 when beating Matt Smith.

Defeats for Sam England and Russ Shaw by Bootham's Andy Proud and Paul Powell made it 3-2 but Dave Sattaur beat Lionel Barnes to make it 4-2, then Sam Parinson, including a 32 break, defeated Paul Mahoney to seal the victory.

Heworth 'A' remained in second spot after a 5-2 win over Acomb 'A'.

Clive Whyte, despite a 44 break, lost the first frame to Acomb's Nick Marchant but John Dowd levelled the match when beating Trevor Ventress.

Heworth then took the next four frames with wins for Gary Douglas, Craig Pullen, Steve Burdett and James Kilmartin over Paul Holmes, Phil Carltion, Keith Thornhill and Mick Borg respectively.

Malton proved too strong for a depleted Fulford 'B', running out 6-1 victors with only Glen Mountain winning for Fulford.

Dominic Spiteri, Steve Beal, Roger Ward and Phil Hart - with breaks of 33 and 29 - plus two walkovers gave the Ryedale side the spoils.

Heworth 'B' eked a 4-3 victory over Acomb 'B' with wins for John McCready, Andy Ogley, Andy Ireland and Andy Hurley. Acomb hit back through Kevin Ventress, Nick Goodacre and Jeff Winter.
